NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-24, 1-12 Big 12) prepares to play host to Baylor (16-8, 7-8 Big 12) on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Howard McCasland Field House. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
Baylor defeated Oklahoma earlier this season, 3-0, in Waco, Texas. The Bears lead the all-time series, 16-9, dating back to 1976. OU last defeated BU, 3-2, on Nov. 27, 1998, in Norman.
Leading the Sooners is sophomore Logan Pierce. Pierce averages 3.18 kills per game and 2.52 digs per game. She is coming off a career-best 23 kills against Middle Tennessee State last weekend. Freshman Candice Woods, who earned all-tournament honors last week at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational at SMS, holds a team-best .203 hitting percentage and 0.80 blocking average. Junior Jessica Barney dishes out 9.47 assists per game, while pacing the Sooners with 0.41 service aces per game.
Baylor's tandem of sisters, Stevie and Sunny Nicholas, lead the Bears' offense. Stevie averages a Big 12-best 5.25 kills per game, while Sunny holds a team-best .321 hitting percentage. Setter Dana Chuha directs the teams' offense with 13.38 assists per game. Defensively, Laura Daniela Lloreda has posted a team-best 3.40 digs per game average, while Tisha Schwartz averages 1.02 blocks per game.
The Sooners are next in action against Texas Tech on Saturday, Nov. 10, in Lubbock, Texas. Match time with the Lady Raiders is set for 7 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
