NORMAN, Okla. - In its final match of the 2001 season, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team (3-30, 2-18 Big 12) was swept by Texas (16-13, 9-11 Big 12) via scores of 30-20, 30-24 and 30-16 on Saturday, Nov. 24, in Austin, Texas.
Oklahoma was led by sophomore Logan Pierce, who posted 11 kills and a team-best .421 hitting percentage. Junior Denise Griffin hustled for a team-high eight digs, while freshman Gretchen French posted four blocks to lead the Sooners.
Texas outkilled OU 47-29 and outblocked the Sooners 11-7. Bethany Howden led the Longhorn offense, recording 19 kills, while Whitney Garvens posted a team-high 12 digs.
After defeating Iowa State on Wednesday, Nov. 21, the Sooners finished the season 10th in the Big 12 with a 2-18 record.
