Final Stats

Lubbock, Texas - Jones SBC Stadium

  • Redshirt-freshman defensive back Brandon Shelby made the first start of his career when Oklahoma opened in the dime formation. It was the first time the Sooners opened in the dime this season.
  • Sophomore defensive tackle Kory Klein intercepted the first pass of his career in the first quarter off of a Roy Williams deflection.
  • Williams' breakup that led to the Klein interception was his 17th of the season and 38th of his career, both OU records. Cornerback Mike Woods (1996-99) previously held both records.
  • Junior offensive lineman Brad Davis made his first career start at right guard.
  • Senior kicker Tim Duncan set the OU record for field goals in single-season with 18.
  • Duncan has connected on 10 straight field goals and became just the fourth Sooner kicker to connect on 41 field goals for a career.
  • Duncan also broke his own single-season kick scoring record with 104 points. The former mark was 98 points, which Duncan set last season.
  • Tight end Trent Smith's 18-yard carry off a lateral was the first of his career.
  • Sophomore running back Renaldo Works saw time split as a wide receiver and caught one pass while playing as a receiver.
  • Junior running back Quentin Griffin has now caught a pass in 28 straight games, spanning every game of his career.
  • Sophomore running back Chris Toney scored his first career touchdown on an eight-yard reception from junior quarterback Nate Hybl. It was only Toney's fifth catch of his career and his first since the Baylor game on Oct. 20.
  • Senior receiver Josh Norman tied the school record for receptions in a game with 11 receptions. Six of those catches came in the first half. His former best was six catches, a feat he accomplished twice. He tied teammate Trent Smith who had 11 catches against Kansas earlier this season.
  • Oklahoma now has 26 scoring drives of two minutes or less in 2001 and 87 over the last three years.
  • OU has held double-digit leads in all but five of its games during the Bob Stoops era.
  • The Sooner defense has intercepted a pass in 23 of its last 25 games dating back to 1999 and has forced at least one turnover in 33 of its last 36 games.
  • Redshirt-freshman cornerback Antonio Perkins intercepted his third pass of the season.
  • Hybl set a career high in passing attempts (50) and rushing attempts (15).
  • After having only two players with 100 or more catches for their careers in the history of the program, four Sooners on this year's squad have topped the century mark. Junior receiver Antwone Savage (110 catches) and Griffin (105) both had over 100 receptions entering the game while Smith (103) and junior receiver Curtis Fagan (100) reached the 100-catch plateau in today's game.
  • Senior defensive tackle Bary Holleyman recorded his second career fumble recovery in the fourth quarter of today's contest. His other fumble recovery came earlier in the season at Kansas.
