With his nine-yard reception in the first quarter, junior running
back Quentin Griffin extended his school-record streak of games with at
least one reception to 26.
Junior receiver Antwone Savage's 21-yard run in the first quarter
was his longest of the season.
Junior tight end Trent Smith's four-yard touchdown reception in the
second quarter was his sixth of the season and 11th of his career. The six
receiving touchdowns this season are one behind the school record
established by Curtis Fagan last season. The 11 career touchdown catches
tie him with Eddie Hinton (1966-68) for third and put him only two behind
all-time leader Keith Jackson (1984-87).
Smith also set a school record for catches in three consecutive
games with 25. Eddie Hinton held the record when he tallied 21 catches
during a three-game stretch against Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma State in
1968. Smith also owns OU records for catches in a game (11) and catches in
two consecutive games (18).
With sophomore free safety Brandon Everage's interception at the end
of the first half, Oklahoma has intercepted a pass in 21 of its last 22
games. The Sooners have forced a turnover in 31 of their last 33 games,
including 22 in a row.
With one pass break-ups today, junior strong safety Roy Williams
moved into a tie for third place with fellow Sooner teammate Derrick Strait
on the OU single-season list with 14.
Strait, a sophomore defensive back, ended the game with a
season-high nine total tackles, including seven unassisted.
Oklahoma held Nebraska to just 164 total yards on the ground. It is
the 28th straight game that the Sooner defense has held an opponent to less
than 200 yards in a game and the 46th straight game under 300 yards. The
Cornhuskers entered the game as the nation's top-ranked rushing offense in
the country with a 338.8 ypg average.
