Women's Golf Team In Sixth Place After First Round In Alabama

BROOKWOOD, Ala. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is tied for sixth place at the Alabama Capstone Intercollegiate in Brookwood, Ala. OU shot a 337 to put them 14 strokes behind first place Minnesota. Sophomore Lisa Meldrum is OU's top performer in seventh place after shooting an 80. Meldrum trails co-leaders Sarah Johnston of Alabama and Anna Gertsson of Mississippi State by four strokes.
Meldrum is three strokes ahead of teammate junior Allison Johnson. Sophomore Hope Edge shot an 85 and is in 33rd place. Freshman Emily Milberger is in 59th place after shooting an 89 and Senior Wendy Martin is in 70th place after a round of 92.
The Sooners will resume play at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday off tees one and 10, with the final round on Sunday.
