NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-15, 1-6 Big 12) will travel to Ames, Iowa, on Wednesday to take on Iowa State (3-11, 0-9 Big 12) at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Coliseum.
Oklahoma leads the all-time series 35-11, winning the last five matches with the Cyclones. ISU is the only team in the league that has yet to post a conference victory. Earlier this season, Iowa State defeated Western Illinois, Drake and Wisconsin-Green Bay but have been winless since Sept. 8.
Leading the Sooners into Wednesday's match are sophomore Logan Pierce, junior Lindsay Hoyt and freshman Candice Woods. Pierce paces Oklahoma with 162 kills (2.84 kpg) while Hoyt is averaging 2.33 digs per game. Woods leads the team with a .215 hitting clip and 0.81 blocks per game. Junior Jessica Barney has served up 27 service aces (0.47sapg), which ranks fifth in the Big 12 Conference while averaging 9.26 assists per game.
The Cyclones are led by Mandi Harms, who has posted a team-high 139 kills (2.96 kpg) followed by Brittany Dalager who has registered 132 kills (2.81 kpg). Dalager also leads ISU defensively, averaging 3.87 digs per game. Steph Suntken paces the Cyclones with 60 blocks (1.8 bpg) and a team-best .253 hitting efficiency.
Following the match with Iowa State, the Sooners have one day of rest before playing host to Kansas State on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Howard McCasland Field House. Proceeding the match with the Wildcats, fans are invited to stay for "Late Night With Sooner Basketball." Late Night is scheduled to end at 11:30 p.m. and admission is free. Tickets can be picked up at the OU ticket office or at any Norman or Moore Arvest Bank.
