Oct. 13, 2001 - Lawrence, Kan.
Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops
On the game:
"I am really pleased with our effort tonight. Our team was prepared. People
were worried about our team letting down and overlooking, but our players
were prepared to play and executed well defensively. Anytime you score 38
points you do some really good things."
On Kansas:
"I believe Kansas is a well-coached team. They execute well and make great
plays defensively. At the beginning of the game they were sharp."
Sophomore Quarterback Jason White
On the opportunity to play:
"It was a great opportunity for me. I had to just step in and start playing.
The offensive line really helped me out and made everything a lot easier for
me. I'm starting to feel a lot more comfortable with the number one team."
On Trent Smith's performance:
"Trent did a great job. It was nice. All I had to do was throw the ball up
there and he would grab it every time."
Junior Tight End Trent Smith
On his performance:
"It was just a deal where I dropped a big catch in the beginning and I came
off to the sideline and the Kansas fans were chanting against me so I just
wanted to show them what I could do when I went back out there."
On Jason White:
"I like the way Jason plays. He was relaxed and real easy to play with. He
got me the ball every time, and that made it easy for me."
