NORMAN, Okla. - Canada's National Women's Basketball Team finished 10th at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, with a 65-58 loss to Cuba Tuesday morning at The Dome. Oklahoma's Stacey Dales had 12 points, two assists and one steal and rebound in Canada's losing effort.

The Sooner point guard ended her Olympic debut averaging 11.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists in 31 minutes of action. Dales also shot a solid 42.5 percent from the field, hitting 31-of-73 attempted shots.

Cuba jumped out to an early 12-5 advantage within the first five minutes of action. However, by half time the lead had already changed nine times and Canada was only down one point at intermission, 35-34. Cuba's top scorer, Yamilet Martinez, picked up three early fouls and was forced to watch the final 10 minutes of the first half from the bench.

With Martinez back on court and staying out of foul trouble, Cuba clinched the game with an 8-0 run in the final 2:30 of action.

Martinez, Jacquelin Plutin and Maria Leon each had 13 points for Cuba, while Tammy Sutton-Brown produced a game-high 14 points for Canada.

Dales is expected to return to Norman and school on October 2. Additional information on Dales' arrival will be released at a later date.
