OU Women's Golf Team Fourth After First Round in New Mexico

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team stands in fourth place after one round of the Comcast-Dick McGuire Invitational at the 6,069 yard, par-73 UNM Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M. The Sooners ended the day 12 over par with a 304 in the 18-team tournament. Leading the field was top-ranked Arizona with a 291. Pepperdine is in second place with a 295 and Tulsa is third with a 301.

Junior Jennifer James led the charge for the Sooners today and is in eighth place with a 74, one stroke over par. Trailing James by one shot is junior Betsy Berry. Junior Wendy Martin is 30th with a score of 77 (+4). Redshirt-freshman Hope Edge and sophomore Allison Johnson, who is competing as an individual, both carded a 78 (+5) to tie for 39th. Freshman Lisa Meldrum scored an 80 and stands in 59th place.

The Sooners continue competition tomorrow morning and conclude tournament play on Saturday.
