NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma Police Department has announced new traffic routes that will make it easier for fans to get in and out of Norman on football game days. Officers from the OU and Norman Police Departments, as well as Oklahoma State Troopers, will be monitoring traffic to assure safe travel to and from the game.

"We encourage people to be patient," said Joe Lester, OU Chief of Police. "Remember that it is a night game and things don't move as fast at night. But with the additional traffic control on Flood, Lindsey and Sooner Roads, patrons of the football game should have an easier time returning to their residence."

Lester said his best suggestion for fans is to park at the Lloyd Noble Center or Westheimer Air Park and ride the buses to campus. The buses depart from the north parking lot of Lloyd Noble or the the terminal building at Westheimer.

After the game, traffic on Lindsey will be two-way with all major intersections monitored by officers. For those headed west, state troopers will monitor traffic entering I-35, while east-bound patrons will have a clear route to 12th Street (also Sooner Road). All north-bound traffic on 12th Street will also be monitored into Moore.

For those traveling north on Flood, officers will also be monitoring the major intersections all the way to 1-35. Cars will have easy access to the interstate because of the widening to three lanes at that location.

Traffic flow will be normal on Highway 9, Berry, Main and Robinson streets.
