OU Football Ranked In Preseason Publications

NORMAN, Okla. - Several collegiate football publications have hit the newsstands and most show Oklahoma ranked in their preseason top 25. The Sooners, coming off a 7-5 season that saw them earn their first bowl berth (Independence Bowl) in six seasons, are ranked as high as 17th nationally thus far.

Sooner newcomers are scheduled to report Aug. 4 while the varsity will report Aug. 8. OU's first combined practice is slated for Aug. 10. The team opens its 2000 campaign when it hosts UTEP Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The Miners are coached by former OU offensive coordinator Gary Nord.
