OKLAHOMA

Head Coach Larry Cochell
(On Austin Mix) - "I don't think that Austin pitched as well as he could, but he pitched well. He made a pitch early in the ballgame, when he had two strikes on the guy and hung a slider. That was one run and we didn't help him. We gave them five outs in an inning that they scored six runs.

(On the Bruins) - "All in all they have a good ball club. They were just better than we were. My hat is off to them. It was a Bruin day. It wasn't a Sooner day.

Player Zach Lekse
(On the Sooner's woes) - "We have been in a funk both offensively and defensively lately. We came out and scored some runs on ORU, but I don't think that we played very good baseball this weekend. We tried to put it together and it just didn't happen. UCLA has a good ball club.

Player Jeff Bajenaru
(On playing his last game) - "It is never easy getting knocked out and finishing your career like this. We know that we can hang with that club. We just didn't have it today. It is real tough going out like this."

Rocky Cherry's 6.2 innings pitched this afternoon marks his longest outing in relief this season.

Cherry is now one outing shy of tying former sooner pitcher Geoff Geary (1998) for second place on OU's single-season appearance list with 32.

After rattling off at 13-straight games with double-digit hits, the Sooners offense has been held to less than 10 hits in three of the last four games.

UCLA

Head Coach Gary Adams
(On today's game) - "Today we did it again, with everything, hitting, pitching and defense. You saw how the Bruins can play when we put those three things together. Ryan Carter really stepped it up and I think that it was a surprise to Oklahoma. Ryan Carter is an experienced pitcher. He is a horse. Oklahoma jumped off with those two runs, basically we handed them those runs. We had some key hits by Chase Utley and Bill Scott. I wanted a lot of runs at that point, because if you look at the box scores Oklahoma can score six runs in an inning. This was a well played game by the Bruins and we are happy to be going to LSU."

Player Ryan Carter
(General Comments)

"That was only my second start of the year, I started the first game of the season. I hurt my right shoulder, and then my role changed and I became one of the closers. I was thinking that I would pitch five innings. That was my goal. I just went one batter at a time and the next thing that I knew it was the eighth inning."

Player Bill Scott
(On the team's performance) - "Our team has really been on a rollercoaster lately, but I think that we played solid all weekend. I really think that one through nine we all did a good job hitting."

Player Chase Utley
(On the team's goals) - "I think that everyone is focused and that they know what our goal is. Our goal is to go to Omaha and win the World Series. There is no better time for us to put that together than now. Oklahoma is a good ball team, they are really scrappy. I rank them up there with some of the best teams we have played."

With four hits today, Bill Scott has set the UCLA single-season record for hits. He now has 111 hits this season, breaking the previous record of 108 set b Troy Glaus in 1997.

Garrett Atkins has extended his season-high hitting streak to 22 games.

Ryan Carter became just 1/3 of an inning shy of tying his career-high of 8.1 innings pitched. His eight innings pitched today was the most this season by Carter.

This is the third regional title for UCLA (1969 and 1997 were previous
