NORMAN, Okla. - Six Oklahoma baseball players, highlighted by Jeff Bajenaru and Jason Bartlett's first team selections, were named to the All-Big 12 Conference Baseball Team as announced by the league office today. First baseman Rick Park, shortstop Tommy Whiteman, starting pitcher Austin Mix and Bajenaru represented the Sooners on the second team list, while Zach Lekse was a honorable mention selection at second base. Lekse and Parks accolades were the second in as many days as the pair was also named to the all-tournament team yesterday following the conclusion of the Phillips 66/Big 12 Conference Baseball Tournament.

Bajenaru garnered first team honors as an outfielder, while also capturing second team laurels as a relief pitcher. The senior co-captain batted .342 with 11 home runs and 53 RBIs and posted 19 saves, the nation's second-best total, with a team-best 2.35 ERA on the mound. Bartlett registered a .332 average, including 15 doubles and 30 RBIs, while flashing an outstanding glove on the left side of the infield and committing only 12 errors in 205 chances.

Park earned his second-straight all-conference and all-tournament honors after posting a .366 average with a team-leading 18 home runs and 74 RBIs during the season and leading OU to its first 2-0 start in Big 12 Conference tournament history. Lekse also made his second appearance on the all-conference list, after making the second team in 1999, and first sighting on the all-tournament roll by hitting a team-best .471 average during the tournament.

Mix, a freshman righthander, led the team in wins with a 10-1 record in his first year and also established himself amongst the conference leaders in wins, opposing batting average, strikeouts and innings pitched throughout the season. Whiteman's sophomore season numbers of a .372 batting average and 20 stolen bases leads the team as well as places him among the league leaders.
