LUBBOCK, Texas - The Oklahoma baseball team fell to Texas Tech, 15-14, in 10 innings for the second-straight game Sunday afternoon at Dan Law Field. Jeff Bajenaru (1-2) surrendered a leadoff walk before the Texas Tech third baseman singled in the winning run two batters later in the bottom of the 11th inning. Oklahoma dropped to 32-18 overall and 15-9 in the Big 12 Conference with the loss as Texas Tech improved to 30-20 overall and 17-10 in the league.
Oklahoma pounded out a season-high 21 hits as Bajenaru led eight Sooner batters with multi-hit efforts with a 3-for-5 afternoon, including three runs scored and three RBIs. Bajenaru and first baseman Rick Park (2-for-6) both blasted three-run homers in the first two innings to give OU a brief 8-2 lead after two innings. Park collected four RBIs and scored two runs to aid in the Sooners' offensive performance.
Texas Tech centerfielder Marco Cunningham (2-for-5) paced the Red Raiders offensively with two runs scored and four RBIs, including a key two-RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the game into extra innings. Kevin Tracey picked up the win in relief to improve to 7-6 on the year.
The Sooners take the week off before hosting Missouri at L. Dale Mitchell Park on Saturday at 7 p.m.
