LAWRENCE, Kan. - Two Oklahoma streaks ended on Sunday afternoon as the Kansas Jayhawks took the final game of the three-game series from the Sooners, 10-4, in baseball action at Hoglund Park. OU's nine-game winning streak came to an end as well as second baseman Zach Lekse's 21-game hitting streak as the senior went 0-for-4 at the plate. Oklahoma fell to 26-15 overall and 11-7 in the Big 12, while Kansas improved to 21-20 on the season and 7-14 in the conference.
Centerfielder Jerome Godsey and rightfielder Jeff Bajenaru provided most of the Sooners' offensive output as both outfielders turned in two-hit performances and combined to drive in three of the four Sooner runs. Shortstop Tommy Whiteman (1-for-5) established a career-high hitting streak with 12-straight games, while third baseman Jason Bartlett (1-for-3) scored two of the runs on the afternoon. Starting pitcher Michael Bradbury (3-1) suffered the loss for OU after surrendering nine earned runs over three innings pitched.
Kansas rightfielder Jesse Gremminger hurt the Sooners offensively with a 2-for-4 outing, including two runs scored and three RBIs. KU starting pitcher Rusty Philbrick improved to 4-4 on the year after shutting down OU to four runs over 7.1 innings.
