LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Oklahoma baseball team (25-14, 10-6 Big 12) racked up their eighth-straight win Friday night with a 6-5 victory over Kansas (20-19, 6-13 Big 12) at Hoglund Park. Zach Lekse also extended his hitting streak to 20 straight with a 1-for-5 performance and one RBI. After the Jayhawks picked up three late runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off OU starter Evan Greusel (2-0), Jeff Bajenaru came on in the ninth inning to close out the game for the Sooners and earn his 11th save on the season.

Greusel, who allowed only two hits and two runs through seven-complete innings, pitched a career-high 7.2 innings and struck out a career-high eight batters. It was the second-consecutive start in which the sophomore righthander established career highs in both categories. First baseman Rick Park led five Sooners who collected two-hit efforts on the night with a 2-for-4 performance with two RBI and a run scored. Park's also night included a solo homer, his ninth on the year, in the fifth inning.

Oklahoma's break out inning occurred in the top of the fourth as five hits and an error led to three Sooner runs and a 4-2 OU lead. After rightfielder Bajenaru (2-for-5) scored on an error by the Kansas first baseman, designated hitter Chad Cochell (1-for-3) and catcher Chris Haggard (2-for-4) scored the final two runs of the inning on consecutive base hits by centerfielder Jerome Gosey (2-for-5) and Lekse.

Kansas first baseman Shane Wedd paced the Jahawks offensively with a 1-for-4 effort and two RBIs. KU starting pitcher Brandon O'Neal (1-3) was charged with the loss after surrendering all six runs.

The two teams meet tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Hoglund Park in the second game of the three-game series.
