McCracken Performs Well At NCAA Championships

BOISE, Idaho - University of Oklahoma gymnast Amber McCracken turned in a 39.375 all-around score at the preliminary team and all-around portion of the NCAA Championships tonight in Boise, Idaho. It was the second-best all-around score of the season for the senior from Olathe, Kan.

McCracken, OU's lone competitor at the Championships, posted her highest score of the night on the vault with a 9.875. She also scored a 9.85 on the balance beam, a 9.85 in the floor exercise and a 9.80 on the uneven parallel bars.

McCracken's best all-around score this year was recorded against Iowa State and Centenary on Feb. 20. She posted a 39.550 that day.

Six of the 12 teams who competed today advanced to Friday's team finals. Those squads are Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, UCLA and Utah.

OU senior Ginger Russell also qualified for the Championships but was unable to participate due to a broken bone in her left hand.
