HOUSTON - After finishing the opening day of the GTE "Mo"morial in ninth place, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team jumped to fourth place behind today's final round score of 303. The best closing round of any team in the field, OU's 303 brought it to within eight strokes of team champion Missouri, which finished the tournament at 929 (+64).

Sophomore Wendy Martin led OU with her three-round total of 230 (+14), which earned her a tie for sixth place. It marked her highest finish since taking runner-up honors during last season's Big 12 Championship. Senior Jaime Dello-Russo fired a closing-round 76, tying her career best, to move from 38th into an eight-way tie for 16th at 20 over par (237).

Senior Isabelle Blais finished one stroke behind Dello-Russo as she added an 81 to her total to tie for 24th (237, +21). Sophomore Jennifer Tannehill, who competed as an individual, matched Blais' performance by shooting an 83.

After posting back-to-back scores of 82 Monday, junior Kellie Jamison lowered her score to a 77, a spring best, to tie for 43rd (241, +25). Freshman Allison Johnson, who was the highest finisher for Oklahoma at the Mountain View Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., earlier this month, rounded out the list of Sooner athletes with a 76 to tie for 47th (243, +27).

The Sooners will be back on the links March 13-14 as they travel to Menifee, Calif., for the Pioneer Electronics Bruin Classic, which is set to be held at the Menifee Lakes Country Club.
