Sooners Cross Red River For GTE

HOUSTON - Following the opening day of competition of the GTE "Mo"Morial at the Pine Forest Country Club in Houston, Texas, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team stands in ninth place (636) out of 16 teams. The Sooners combined rounds of 327and 309 to put them 19 shots off of Baylor's 617 low score.
Competing as an individual, OU sophomore Jennifer Tannehill tied her career best with a 74 during the first round today. She is tied for 10th at 10 over par (154) after recording a second-round 80.
After a slow start, senior Isabelle Blais moved up to tie for 18th at 156 (+12) with rounds of 84 and 72. Her second round score marked her lowest of the spring. Sophomore Wendy Martin also tied her low stroke total for the spring and is tied with Blais after recording rounds of 83 and 73.
Senior Jaime Dello-Russo strung together rounds of 78 and 82 and stands in a tie for 38th at 16 over par (160), while junior Kellie Jamison shot back-to-back rounds of 82 to tie for 53rd at 20 over par (164). The tournament marks the first appearance for Jamison this spring. Freshman Allison Johnson rounded out the list of OU scorers with totals of 84 and 83.
The Sooners, who finished in second place at the tournament a year ago, will conclude play tomorrow as final round tee times are set for 8 a.m.
