NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma fell 6-3 to Baylor in baseball action on Saturday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park for the second game in a row. OU's offense was held to five hits in the game by Baylor pitchers Kyle Evans and Zane Carlson as the Bears' improved to 20-8 overall and 7-4 in the Big 12. Rightfielder Jeff Bajenaru hit his second home run in a week for the Sooners who dropped to 15-12 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
Shortstop Zach Lekse matched a career-high eight-game hitting streak with a 2-for-4, one run scored and one RBI effort. Bajenaru's solo home run was one of two RBIs for the senior on the day to add to a 1-for-3 performance at the plate. OU starting pitcher Austin Coose (3-4) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up all six runs.
Shortstop Jace Brewer nailed two home runs for the Bears as part of a 2-for-3, two run scored and two RBI performance. Evans (6-0) picked up the win for Baylor and Carlson earned his sixth save after two scoreless innings of relief.
The series concludes tomorrow at 1 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
