Oklahoma Baseball Loses On Home Run In The Ninth

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Oklahoma Sooners fell to No. 15 Arizona State, 6-5, Saturday night in baseball action on a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth by Sun Devil catcher Casey Myers to break a five all tie at Packard Stadium in Tempe. The tie was the third that the two teams battled through in the game. Oklahoma pitcher Clint Dunbar (0-1) gave up the decisive home run, while Arizona State reliever Eric Doble (1-1) picked up the win. The Sooners fall to 11-7 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12 and the Sun Devils improve to 20-4 overall on the year.

Seven Sooners in the starting lineup collected hits on the evening led by leftfielder Sean Murphy and centerfielder Jerome Godsey who each posted two hits. Murphy scored two runs in the game, including the tying run in the top of the ninth inning as a passed ball by Myers allowed him to score from third base. Starting OU pitcher Austin Coose worked eight innings and surrendered nine hits and four earned runs, while striking out four.

Myers continued to lead the Sun Devils for the second-straight night by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

The three-game set between the two teams concludes tomorrow night at 8 p.m.
