Sooners Down Kansas State, 64-56

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Phylesha Whaley had 28 points and 12 rebounds as No. 24 Oklahoma beat Kansas State 64-56 Tuesday night.

Whaley made four 3-pointers in the second half as Oklahoma (21-6, 11-3 Big 12) took a half-game lead over Texas Tech, Kansas and Iowa State in the conference race.

Kim Woodlee hit three 3-pointers in the second half as Kansas State (12-15, 5-9) cut a 12-point deficit to two with 13:03 left.

Whaley then scored seven points in the next 1:34 as the Sooners built a 12-point lead.

The Wildcats came back again, cutting the lead to four with 6:17 remaining. Whaley hit a 3-pointer with 6:09 to go as Oklahoma again squelched Kansas State's rally.

Kristen Rethman had 16 points and six rebounds, and Woodlee finished with 15 points for the Wildcats.

LaNeishea Caufield had 15 points for the Sooners, who scored the first nine points and led 22-15 at halftime.
