NORMAN, Okla. -- A total of six facility records were set and 23 NCAA provisional marks were established at the Sooner Indoor today, the final tuneup for most teams before conference championships next weekend.
Facility records were set in the women's 60-meter hurdles by Nicole Hoxie of Texas with a 8.16, in the women's 60-meter dash by Sonia Williams of Barton County with a 7.38, in the women's triple jump by Stacy Bowers, unattached, 43-8.5, in the women's 800-meter run by Liz Diaz of Texas, 2:07.62, in the men's triple jump by Walter Davis of Barton County CC, 53-11.75, in the men's 3000-meter run by Matt Kerr, unattached, 8:00.58,
Jim Autenreith of Baylor beat the NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the pole vault when he cleared 18-0.5.
NCAA provisional marks were met by the Arkansas' men's distance relay team, Kyla Shoemake of Arkansas, Nicole Hoxie of Nebraska and Alesha Peel, OU, in the 60-meter hurdles, Bambi Carson, OU, shot put, Lakeesha White and Aleah Williams of Texas and Staneshia Bell of OU, 60-meter dash, Dawn Charlier, Houston, mile run, Dena Dial, Oral Roberts, pole vault, Terence Newman, Kansas State, 60-meter dash, Stella Klassen and Lesley Owusu of Nebraska, Tanya Jarrett and Nakiya Johnson of Texas, and Jennifer Fontenot of OU, in the 400-meter dash, Liz Diaz of Texas in the 800-meter run, Williams and White of Texas in the women's 200-meter dash, Erin Aldrich of Texas in the high jump, Nebraska, Baylor and Arkansas in the women's mile relay, OU in the men's mile relay, Mike Westlund, OU, pole vault.
For the Sooners, three school records were set in the meet. Staneshia Bell broke her own mark in the 60-meter dash with a 7.41. Alesha Peel broke her own record in the 60-meter hurdles with a 8.32. Jonas Lusk broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a 7.97. Those three marks were all personal bests and 18 other Sooners set personal bests in action today.
The Sooners will travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Big XII Championships Friday and Saturday before returning to host an NCAA Last Chance Qualifying Meet on Saturday, March 4.
