NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team broke five school records while routing Air Force in front of 607 fans at the Lloyd Noble Center tonight. The women set an all-time high team score, defeating the Falcons 197.225-190.125.
Besides setting a new all-time best team score, the Sooner women also set four other school records. OU tied the all-time best on the uneven bars, 49.375, and shattered the old mark on the balance beam with a 49.475. Individually, senior Amber McCracken scored the first perfect 10.00 on the vault in school history and redshirt-freshman Leticia Ishii's 39.65 set a new record in the all-around. OU swept the top-three spots in all four events. Ishii captured the top spot in the all-around, floor exercise (9.90) and tied McCracken for first on the uneven bars (9.925). McCracken also placed first on the vault, and fellow senior Ginger Russell won the balance beam with a career-best 9.95.
The OU women are back in action Sunday, Feb. 20, when they host Iowa State at 2 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center.
