Men's Gymnasts Down Air Force

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team set two school records while routing Air Force, 226.375-217.775, in front of 607 fans at the Lloyd Noble Center tonight. Junior Gabe Hansen tied the school record on the pommel horse with a 9.85 and the Sooners broke the school record on the horse with a 38.975.

Hansen also set a career high in the all-around, claiming first place with a 56.95. Hansen also claimed first on the pommel horse and on the vault (9.40). Sophomore David Johnston set a new personal best on the still rings, winning the event with a 9.80. Junior Steve Van Etten (floor exercise, 9.70), sophomore Everette Bierker (parallel bars, 9.65) and freshman Brett Covey (horizontal bar, 9.8) all won individual event titles for OU. The dual was Covey's first as a Sooner.

The Sooners are back in action when they travel to Lincoln, Neb., on Feb. 27, to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Action begins at 1 p.m.
