CHARLOTTE, N.C. - University of Oklahoma linebacker Torrance Marshall for the second time in three weeks was named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America.

Marshall, a 6-foot-2 247-pound senior, made perhaps the biggest defensive play of the college season when he picked off a pass in the fourth quarter of the Sooners' 35-31 victory over Texas A&M. The Sooners were trailing at the time, 31-28, but Marshall weaved his way down field 41 yards after the interception for the decisive touchdown which kept Oklahoma No. 1. Marshall also won the award two weeks ago for his inspired play in Oklahoma's 31-14 victory over Nebraska.

The Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week is selected by a panel of writers from the FWAA. The FWAA also names the best defensive player in college football at the end of the season. The recipient receives the Bronko Nagurski Trophy presented by Mike Fox and the foxcompanies.net at a banquet hosted by the Charlotte Touchdown Club on Dec. 4 in Charlotte.
