Women's Golf Team Ties For Third At Big 12 Preview

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team tied Texas for third place at the Big 12 Fall Preview in Waco, Texas, in final-round competition Tuesday. The Sooners ended play nine strokes off the lead with a 904 at the par-72, 5,991-yard Ridgewood Country Club. Oklahoma State captured the team title and was followed by Missouri.
Oklahoma freshman Lisa Meldrum led the team with a 224 (+8) to finish in seventh place, while junior Wendy Martin shot a 225 (+9) for 12th place. Junior Jennifer Tannehill and sophomore Allison Johnson both tied for 21st with scores of 230 (+14). Betsy Berry, who competed as an individual, carded a 237 (+21) for 42nd place. Junior Jennifer James shot a 239 (+23) and finished in 46th place.
Texas Tech's Melanie Hunt captured medalist honors following a playoff against Missouri's Amelia Moses. Both golfers fired three-round par scores of 216.
The Sooners will compete next at the UALR Invitational in Little Rock, Ark., Oct. 16-17. OU will wrap up its competitive fall season Oct. 30-31 at the Roadrunner Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
