Women's Golfers' Sights Set On Title After Two Rounds

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished Monday in second place, only three stokes behind Oklahoma State, at the Big 12 Fall Preview in Waco, Texas. The Sooners fired rounds of 299 and 300 at the par-72, 5,991-yard Ridgewood Country Club. Texas trails OU by five strokes while Texas Tech and Missouri are eight strokes behind the Sooners.

Oklahoma junior Wendy Martin shot four over par to card a 148 and settle into seventh place, while freshman Lisa Meldrum added one stroke for ninth place. Sophomore Allison Johnson shot a 153 (+9) to tie for 22nd and junior Jennifer Tannehill ended the day in 25th place with a 154 (+10). Junior Jennifer James carded a 157 (+13) for 31st and junior Betsy Berry, who is competing as an individual, is in 48th place after shooting a 160 (+16).

Texas Tech's Melanie Hunt leads Iowa State's Lisa Meshke by one stroke for first place.

The tournament will conclude Tuesday with the final round starting at 8 a.m.
