OU Men's Gymnastics Team Falls To Ohio State

NORMAN, Okla. - The seventh-ranked University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team was defeated by third-ranked Ohio State, 228.100 - 228.025, Friday night at the Lloyd Noble Center. OU falls to 4-2 with the loss.

Leading the Sooners was freshman standout Daniel Furney. Furney won the all-around competition with a score of 57.45, topping All-American Michael Morgan (55.45). He also came out on top in the horizontal bar competition (9.60). Furney had solid performances on the vault (9.50) and the still rings (9.50) and pommel horse (9.70) placing third in all three events.

Junior Brendan O'Neil was also a key contender for OU as he won the floor exercise with a score of 9.80. Robby Rome was second (9.55) behind Furney on the horizontal bar. Everette Bierker and Josh Landis helped out with second (Landis-pommel horse-9.75) and third (Bierker-parallel bars-9.675) place performances. Shannon Carrion also placed second on the still rings (9.75).

Ohio State freshman Raj Bhavsar won the pommel horse (9.85) and the still rings (9.85). Daren Lynch placed first on the vault (9.65), while teammate Jamie Natalie placed first on the parallel bars (9.80).
