Sooners Fall To 12th At Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - With today's total of 318 (+26), the University of Oklahoma women's golf team slipped to 12th at the 21st annual Jones Intercable Dick McGuire Invitational. Combining its 318 with yesterday's first round of 308 (+16), Oklahoma is 40 shots behind third-ranked Arizona's 586 (+2). The Wildcats extended their lead to nine strokes over second-place Southern California's 595 (+11).
After tying her career-best single round effort of 72 during the opening day of action, senior Isabelle Blais shot a seven-over-par 80 (152) to fall into a five-way tie for 22nd where she stands six-over-par for the tournament. Sophomore Wendy Martin's two-day stroke count of 153 (+7) has her in a four-way tie for 27th. Sophomore Jennifer Tannehill improved two shots over her first round of 81 to tie three others for 70th place at 14 over. Also improving from day one was sophomore Betsy Berry, who has strung together rounds of 81 and 80 which has her in a three-way tie for 74th. After withdrawing from the tournament yesterday, sophomore Jennifer James returned to shoot an 84 today.
The 18-team tournament concludes Saturday at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course. The first tee time is slated for 8 a.m. MDT.
