Women's Golfers 11th After Opening Round

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The seventh-ranked University of Oklahoma women's golf team stands in 11th place out of 18 teams after today's first round of action at the 21st annual Jones Intercable Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Sooners shot a 308 (+16) on the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course. OU is 14 strokes behind first-place Arizona which turned in a round of 294 (+2).
Senior Isabelle Blais combined her front nine score of 37 with a back nine of 35 to post a 72, tying her career best round. Her one-under-par first round has Blais in a three-way tie for fifth place. Sophomore Wendy Martin tied her season best stroke total by turning in a 74 (+1) to tie for 12th. Sophomores Jennifer Tannehill and Betsy Berry both shot 81 (+8) and are tied with seven others in 69th place.
Friday's second round is set to get underway at 8:30 a.m. MST. The tournament will conclude on Saturday when tee times begin at 8 a.m. MST.
