NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team received a seventh-place ranking in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top 25 poll today. Other Big 12 conference schools joining the Sooners on the top 25 list include Nebraska (fourth), Oklahoma State (sixth), Baylor (ninth), Missouri (12th), Texas A&M (20th) and Texas Tech (25th).
Oklahoma opened the season last Monday and Tuesday at the Big 12 Fall Preview where they turned in a third-place score of 918. The finish marked the best of any OU team in school history. Setting the pace for OU was senior Isabelle Blais, who shot a three-round 222 to finish third. After opting to redshirt last season following an appearance in the 1998 U.S. Open, Blais returns to lead the Sooners in 1999-2000.
The OU season continues this week as the squad travels to Albuquerque, N.M., for the 21st annual Jones Intercable Dick McGuire Invitational Thursday through Saturday.
