Norman, Okla. - Due to high interest, the University of Oklahoma has decided to begin selling tickets to the Aug. 28 scrimmage in Tulsa through the OU Athletic Ticket Office in Norman beginning Friday morning. The scrimmage, which will begin at 3:30 p.m., will be held at LaFortune Stadium on the campus of Memorial High School to help raise money for victims of the May 3 tornadoes.
"We have been talking with several Tulsa-area businesses trying to find an easy way to distribute tickets for this event," said Sooner Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. "All seats are general admission, but we wanted to make the ticket-buying process easy for our fans in the Tulsa area. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to secure someone at this time, but we are hopeful that in the very near future we'll be able to make an announcement of a location in Tulsa to sell tickets. For the present time, our ticket office is ready to handle orders for anyone interested in securing a seat right away."
The price for all seats is $5 and mail orders will be accepted through Aug. 19 by calling the OU Athletic Ticket Office at (800) 456-4668 or (405) 325-2424. A small handling fee will be added to all phone orders.
In conjunction with the scrimmage, the OU Club of Tulsa will hold a barbecue lunch inside the Memorial High School cafeteria at 1:30 p.m. Sooner head coach Bob Stoops and Castiglione will speak to those in attendance before the scrimmage. For further information on the lunch, contact the OU Club of Tulsa at (918) 831-4487.
