Norman, Okla. - University of Oklahoma Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione and Head Football Coach Bob Stoops announced this morning that the Sooners will hold their final major scrimmage at La Fortune Stadium at Tulsa Memorial High School Saturday, Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m. The scrimmage will help raise money for the victims of the May 3 tornadoes.
"I was in Tulsa the evening the tornadoes struck the state and I was overwhelmed by the amount of destruction I saw driving back home," said Stoops. "During the days following, I was touched by the response throughout the state and starting thinking about ways to help. While this scrimmage comes months after the tragedy, we know that there are still people out there rebuilding and in need of help. This event can help with the rebuilding efforts and also provide us the opportunity to reach out to our fans in the eastern portion of the state that normally make their way to Norman to see us."
Further details about ticket prices and selling outlets are still being discussed and will be announced within the next few weeks.
