Norman, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma football team held its first open practice under head coach Bob Stoops. The two-hour practice was highlighted by a 30-play scrimmage and a crowd estimated around 600.

"I was generally pleased with the workout today though I thought we were sloppy at times," noted Stoops after practice. "I dont know whether the fans made our players nervous or not, but we can look sharper than we did today. I think we all enjoyed having the fans around and look forward to having more of them in the stands in the near future."

The scrimmage featured the new Sooner offense, which completed nine of 18 passes for 128 yards. Junior college transfer Josh Heupel led all OU quarterbacks with 10 attempts, but sophomore signal-caller Patrick Fletcher led the team with 73 yards.

OU will continue its spring practice this week with open practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Both workouts are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. The Sooners will hold its first major scrimmage on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
