ST. GEORGE, Utah. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team shot two rounds of 316-332 at the Utah-Dixie Classic today to finish in 14th place. The Sooners were in ninth after yesterday's opening round and 12th after today's first 18 holes before shooting its worst round of the tournament. The Utah-Dixie Classic is the fourth tournament of the spring season for the youthful Oklahoma squad that traveled three freshmen and two seniors. The tournament was held at the 6,015-yard, par-72, Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah.
The Sooners were led by three true freshmen. Freshman Jennifer Tannehill shot three-rounds of 77-78-82 to lead the OU women for the second time this season. Other Sooner finishers were freshman Wendy Martin (243, tied for 55th), freshman Jennifer James (243, tied for 55th), senior Leslie Elliott (244, tied for 62nd) and senior Lisa Craig (246, tied for 70th). Oklahoma will host the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, April 12-13, in Norman at the Jimmie Austin University of Oklahoma Golf Course.
