OU Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Big 12 Championships

BOULDER, Colorado - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team shot two rounds of 301 after an opening-round 318 at the Big 12 Championships to finish the tournament in fifth place. The Sooners were tied for 10th following the first round of play, but climbed five spots in the last two rounds. The competition at the Big 12 Championships included all of the Big 12 teams, and was led by Oklahoma State all three rounds, who finished with a team total of 906. The Sooners traveled three freshmen, a senior and a sophomore to its sixth tournament of the spring season. The tournament is being held at the 6,166-yard, par-72, Boulder Country Club in Boulder, Colo.

Freshman Wendy Martin tied her best round as a Sooner on Wednesday, firing a 70. She tied for second only after losing in a playoff to Oklahoma State's Maria Boden for individual medalist honors. This is Martin's best finish at OU. Senior Lisa Craig shot three rounds of 77-77-78 on her way to finishing tied for 22nd, which is her best of the season. Other Sooner finishers include freshman Jennifer Tannehill (233, tied for 25th), sophomore Kellie Jamison (238, tied for 39th) and freshman Jennifer James (240, tied for 45th).
