OU Women's Golf Finishes Tied for 15th at the Ping/ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team bettered its first and second round team scores by more than 20 strokes with a 313 in the final round of the Ping/ASU Invitational to finish tied for 15th. The competiton at the Ping/ASU Invitational includes six of the top eighth teams in the country and 11 of the top 20 according to Golfweek. The Sooners traveled three freshmen and two seniors to their third tournament of the spring season. The tournament is being held at the 6,101-yard, par-72, Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
Freshman Wendy Martin, who led the Sooners with a scoring average of 78.4 in the fall, shot her best round of the tournament on Saturday with a 77 to finish tied for 43rd. Other Sooner finishers include freshman Jennifer Tannehill (241, tied for 62nd), senior Lisa Craig (243, tied for 66th), freshman Jennifer James (249, tied for 78th) and senior Leslie Elliott (255, tied for 87th). The Sooners next compete at the BYU Invitational, April 5-6, in Provo, Utah.
