Women's Golf In Sixth After First Round Of Roadrunner Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - After turning in an opening-round 304 (+16) at the Roadrunner Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M., today, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team stands in sixth place out of the 21 teams that competed on the University Golf Course. OU's score is 10 strokes behind Washington, who leads the tournament with a 294. The invitational marks the final competition of the fall season for the Sooners, who entered the three-day tournament ranked 25th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
Sophomore Jennifer James topped the list of OU finishers as she shot a career-best 73 to tie for fourth place. James took three strokes off of her previous best, a 76 which she scored on four separate occasions a year ago. Freshman Allison Johnson tied her career low, a 74, which came at the Big 12 Preview, and is tied for ninth place. Senior Isabelle Blais shot a 36 on the front nine but managed just a 41 on the back side (77 overall) and is tied for 33rd. Sophomore Wendy Martin stands in a tie for 56th after today's score of 80, while junior Kellie Jamison, who is making her second appearance of the fall, is one stroke behind Martin and is tied for 65th.
Action resumes tomorrow as tee times are set for 7 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. (MST). The invitational concludes Wednesday with the final round slated for an 8 a.m. (MST) shotgun start.
