• Oversees football operations by working directly with OU’s strength, sports medicine, nutrition, football video, equipment, field maintenance and secretarial staffs.
• Serves as liaison with athletics administration, academics/student life, compliance, communications, marketing, development, game day operations and the business office, as well as FCA, the Touchdown Club, the Varsity O Association and Sooner Sports Properties.
• Assists with team's GrowU program that fosters student-athlete co-curricular development.
• Coordinates OU’s travel arrangements, including bowl games.
• Works closely with OU head coach Lincoln Riley in coordinating community affairs.
Professional Notes and Accomplishments
• Started as the Sooners’ director of football operations in July 2018 after serving as OU vice president for student affairs and dean of students since 2000.
• Worked to ensure co-curricular support for OU’s 30,000 students system wide. As an executive officer of the institution, Stroud was in daily contact with students, faculty and staff.
• Was responsible for approximately 1,500 employees reporting through 18 directors, and administering an annual budget of approximately $80 million. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he was an adjunct to a graduate level course for the OU Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education and taught an OU University College seminar class each semester to new freshmen. He was honored with the Outstanding Instructor for Freshmen Seminar Award in spring of 2010.
• Oversaw strategic planning and assessment in all areas of OU’s division of Student Affairs including, Housing and Food Services, Student Life, Oklahoma Memorial Union, Career Services, Fitness and Recreation, Leadership and Volunteerism, Student Conduct, Health Services, University Counseling Center, Gender and Equality Center, Student Media, Health Sciences Center Student Affairs, OU Tulsa Student Affairs, and Student Affairs in Arezzo, Italy. He also was a member of the University’s Threat Assessment Committee.
• Joined the OU staff in 1992 and held positions of assistant director of Housing and Food Services and director of the Oklahoma Memorial Union. In 2008, he was the recipient of OU’s Otis Sullivant Award for Perceptivity.
• Has served as a member of the Norman Rotary Club and on the Citizens Committee overseeing the construction of the Cleveland County jail. Starting in 2009, at the appointment of governors Brad Henry and Mary Fallin, he served on the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) board of directors for 11 years. The Authority is fully committed to the creative use of telecommunications technologies to deliver essential educational and public television programs and value-added services to enrich the quality of life for all Oklahoma citizens and children.
• Has stewarded the community in a variety of ways, including serving on the Cleveland County CASA board of directors and the Second Chance Animal Sanctuary board of directors, as coordinator of the Lincoln Elementary Watch D.O.G.S. program and Leadership Norman, as well as thrice serving as the co-coordinator of the United Way campaign for OU Norman campus, which annually raises more than $200,000 for United Way Norman. Stroud has also been a member of a local improvisational comedy troupe and coached for the Norman Youth Soccer Association.
