NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma begins the 2006 season ranked No. 10 in the Associated Press poll released on Friday.
The Sooners received 960 votes. Ohio State is No. 1 with Notre Dame, Texas, Auburn and West Virginia in the top five.
USC, Florida, LSU, California and OU rounded out the top 10.
OU was one of four Big 12 Conference teams in the top 25. Nebraska checked in at No. 20 with Texas Tech at No. 25. Texas A&M received votes.
Oklahoma's third game of the season will be at No. 21 Oregon.
