Ty Terrell joined the staff as director of men’s basketball strength and conditioning on July 12, 2024. In this role, he oversees weight room operations, applies athletic testing and analyzes the results, creates player performance development plans, works on athlete return-to-play programs and implements recovery strategies for student-athletes.

Terrell joined the Sooners after two years as the senior director of athletic performance for the Washington Wizards, Mystics and Capital City Go-Go. Before his move to Washington, he spent five years as the assistant performance coach for the Atlanta Hawks.

While in the nation’s capital, he oversaw all facets of game day, practice and postgame routines and implemented offseason training programs. 

Terrell collaborated with additional areas of support, including nutrition, mental health and sleep specialists, further developing a holistic approach to athlete welfare.
Terrell graduated from Concordia University Chicago in 2021 with a bachelor’s in kinesiology. 

In addition to his NBA experience, he worked for Lee Taft Speed Academy (2008-09), True Athletic Development (2009-13), Henry County YMCA (2012-13) as the director of wellness, Indy 11 of the United Soccer League (2013-14), Point Guard College (2015) and the Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training as a performance coach (2013-18).
