J.J. Swearingen is in his ninth year as an Assistant Director of Psychological Resources for OU Student-Athletes (PROS). He works with student-athletes across all sports, providing mental performance enhancement training, mental health counseling, and psychological assessment services.
He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Behavioral Studies, with an emphasis in Community Counseling, from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he also competed on the men’s tennis team. His professional background includes collegiate coaching and extensive experience supporting high-performing athletes.
Mr. Swearingen is a U.S. Army veteran who served during Operation Enduring Freedom and is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. He is registered with the United States Olympic Committee, is a member of Mensa, and is a co-author of Commanding Performance: Sport Psychology Workbook for Tennis, a practical resource focused on applying mental skills to consistent competitive performance.
