Sam Marder joined the Sooners as Director of Player DevelopmentĀ in July of 2026. She most recently served as the associate head coach at the University of Oregon from the summer of 2021 through the 2026 season where she was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Assistant Coach of the Year. Marder was a part of the 2025 Women's College World Series team with the Ducks and also earned 2024 and 2025 NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year honors.Ā 

With the Sooners in 2021 Oklahoma went on to win the national title with unprecedented numbers. Marder oversaw scouting reports, analytics and statistical breakdowns for the Sooner offense. Marder has also had stops in various roles at Ohio State, Boise State, Charleston and Texas Tech since 2010. Prior to that she was a three-time All-American softball player at Ohio State, graduating with the program record in career home runs (61), RBIs (191) and walks (232). She was a 2016 Ohio State Hall of Fame inductee and went on to be drafted to pro softball in 2011 by the Akron Racers of National Pro Fastpitch where she was the league offensive MVP in 2012.
