OU Men's Basketball History & Tradition

Blake Griffin Ceremony

Regarded as the best player in Oklahoma basketball history, Wayman Tisdale became the first OU athlete in any sport to have his or her jersey honored (1997). Four other Sooners have since been honored, as Alvan Adams (1998), Mookie Blaylock (2001) , Stacey King (2008) and Blake Griffin (2016) each saw their jerseys raised to the rafters inside Lloyd Noble Center.

• Scored school-record 61 points against Texas-San Antonio (also had 22 rebounds) as a sophomore
• Top rebounder on 1984 U.S. Olympic gold medal team with 6.4 boards over eight games
• Scored a school-record 932 points during 1984-85 season
• Holds OU career records for points (2,661), rebounds (1,048), FGs (1,077), FTs (507) and FT attempts (767)
• Second pick in 1985 NBA Draft by Indiana Pacers
