Aldwyn Sappleton posted an NCAA provisional mark in the 800 to lead the Sooners at the Michael Johnson/Southwest Bell Classic..

WACO, Texas - OU sophomore Aldwyn Sappleton dropped four seconds off his season best time to finish second in the 800-meter invitational event at the Michael Johnson/Southwestern Bell Classic late Saturday. Sappleton's time of 1:48.87 beat the NCAA provisional mark by .13 seconds and ranks as the second best time in the Big 12 this season. Senior Moses Washington was third in the same event with a 1:51.31, a season best for him as well.

Junior Tiffany Davis had a strong performance in the meet, winning the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a 1:01.67, a season best, after finishng third in the 100-meter hurdles.

Other Sooner winners included Raoul Harvey inthe 400-meter dash with a season best of 47.10 and Kelli O'Rourke, who took the title in the women's 800 with a 2:14.69, a career best.

OU athletes who have met the qualifying standards will compete in the Drake Relays next weekend while those who were not invited to Drake will compete in the North Texas Quadrangular on Wednesday. Joining host North Texas and OU in the meet are Texas-Arlington and Southern Methodist.
