In preliminary action, junior Tiffany Davis advanced to the final in the 100-meter hurdles with the seventh fastest qualifying time. Her mark of 14.07 was good for second place in her heat. The men's 1600-meter relay finished first in its heat with a 3:10.12 and will take the fifth fastest qualifying time into the final on Saturday.

The prelim news wasn't as good for the women's 400-meter relay, the women's 1600-meter relay and L'eron George in the 100-meter dash. All failed to advance to the final.

On Saturday, the Sooners are scheduled to have Leslie Dunlap and Michael Westlund competing in the pole vault; Sand
