Oklahoma Sport Psychology Consortium

The Oklahoma Sport Psychology Consortium (OSPC) is a doctoral internship in health service psychology. The two training sites in OSPC include the University of Oklahoma (OU) Athletics Department-Psychological Resources for OU Student-Athletes (PROS) and Commander Counseling & Wellness (CCW).

Program Summary

Two (2) intern positions available per training year
Supervised training in health service psychology and sport psychology within an NCAA Division I athletics department and group private practice
Weekly schedule of four days per week in the OU Athletics Department and one day per week in CCW
Stipend of $25,500
Eligible for OU health insurance and benefits (except for retirement which is an OU HR policy exception pertaining to psychological interns)
A maximum of $1,000 in professional development funds to use towards conference attendance
Didactic seminars will include training from interdisciplinary staff (i.e., athletic trainers, academic advisors, nutritionist, strength & conditioning, etc.)

Eligibility Criteria

Currently enrolled in an APA-Accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology (e.g., PsyD, PhD, EdD), or the equivalent.
Completion of all pre-internship coursework.
Defense of dissertation proposal prior to the start date of internship.
A minimum of 500 total intervention hours.

The Ideal Applicant

Applicants with documented experience and training in sport and performance psychology; preference will be given for experience and training with collegiate student-athletes.
Applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in health service psychology and applied sport psychology (e.g., in a collegiate athletics department, in a college counseling center as a liaison to an athletics department, private practice, etc.).
Applicants who have exceptional clinical and counseling skills from a wide range of training experiences (e.g., not only with college students).
Applicants who are familiar with psychological testing procedures and assessment batteries (e.g., WAIS-IV, WMS-IV, WIAT-III, MCCI, CAARS-S:L, CPT-3, etc.).
Applicants who are growth-minded and open to feedback from supervisors, training staff, and peers.
Applicants who have ethical and professional foundations commensurate with the OSPC training sites.
Applicants with diverse intersectional identities are especially encouraged to apply to the OSPC.

Accreditation

The Oklahoma Sport Psychology Consortium is actively seeking accreditation from the American Psychological Association (APA), as well as membership with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).
