It's that time of the year again. For the 108th time, OU and Texas will meet in the AT&T Red River Rivalry in Dallas Saturday.
On the Red River Rivalry:
"It's always really special. It's kind of like a bowl game in the middle of the year. It's a great game."
On the seniors potentially having a 4-0 record against Texas:
"For me personally, it (has meaning). I would love to stay undefeated in this series and I would love to walk away from my career here at OU and say I was undefeated against Texas."
On shutting Texas' running game down:
"That's the importance of any defense. We need to stop the run and make them throw."
On OU/Texas:
"I think of just a big rivalry, big tradition game. I think of coming out of that tunnel and seeing that split. It's just something you can never put into words."
On younger players stepping up:
"The best guys are going to play and [Coach Stoops] expects the same thing out of all the defenders. You've got to go out there and make plays."
On the new uniforms:
"I love them. Since I've been here I've worn the same jersey for every game. To be able to wear a new one is going to be really exciting."
On the loss of Corey Nelson:
"We are going to miss him out on the field, but he will be in the locker room and he is just as important as an emotional leader to this defense and the entire team."
On the OU-Texas rivalry:
"It is one of the reasons that you come to play football here. Especially when you come out on the winning side of the last three years, it is a great experience."
Three word: Red River Rivalry. Get ready for the game with today's Boomer Bytes.
On the defensive line to this point:
“This has been far and away the most production we have got out of our defensive line in a long time."
Michael Hunnicutt joined the set of Sooner Sports Pad to talk OU-Texas, setting a new OU record and more.
ESPN has selected the AT&T Red River Rivalry as the Game of the Week, to be shown at 11 a.m. (CT) on ABC.
Taking care of the football and winning the big-play battle are what the Sooner offense says will determine the OU-Texas winner.
On getting it going during the TCU game:
"Yeah, I finally found my groove, and my confidence has been growing every day and I have been focusing on the ball and taking it all in."
On getting ready for OU-Texas week:
"Everybody is on edge. Everyone knows this is a big game, a big week and what this rivalry means to each one of these programs."
On the new uniforms:
"Us younger cats like that fashion sense, so it’s something that we look forward to. Especially the cleats with the gold bottoms, those are nice. They did a great job."
On the importance of this year’s OU/Texas game:
"It would be pretty cool to go 4-0 against Texas. It's important to win every game, but being that this is one of the biggest, if not the biggest rivalry we have, it's important for everyone involved."
Both OU and Texas will wear gold-accented uniforms for the 2013 AT&T Red River Rivalry, honoring the tradition associated with the game's ultimate prize.
