EMPORIA, Kan. - Freshman Austin Landreth won a jump off with OU teammate Robin Hanna to take the men's pole vault title at the Emporia State Twilight Qualifier Saturday night.
Landreth cleared a collegiate and personal best of 17-7.25 on his fourth attempt. In addition to winning the title, that mark is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and is the 12th best effort in the country through competitions on Sunday.
Hanna, a junior, cleared 17-0.75 but missed his fourth attempt at 17-7.25 to finish second. The mark for Hanna was a season best.
Landreth, Hanna and their Sooner teammates will travel to the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Columbia, Mo., later this week. Competition begins on Friday and continue through Sunday in the sixth annual league track and field meet.
